The client wanted a bright, light room that could work for both modern and antique pieces of furniture. The house was a victorian terrace so had bags of character and would therefore suit a traditional yet contemporary look.
The project entailed a day or so of preparation work due to the previous decor displaying a bright orange feature wall and some very dark, thick brown wallpaper on the remaining walls. I had to work with the existing bed, carpet and the retro pink lampshade as part of the brief, the client also wanted to make the fireplace the hero of the room. I suggested the 'Pride' House of Hackney hand created wallpaper, with the cute but very detailed ostriches, the room then formed from there and of course this would be the feature wall of the room.
Finishing touches were sourced from websites, eBay and Ikea and all styling was completed by myself, including the delightful little tassel in the fireplace.
